Vala Nears End of Grant to
Develop hESC Differentiation Assay

The assays observe how hESCs differentiate into cardiomyocytes, an application relevant to drug discovery because researchers trying to produce cardiomyocytes from hESCs are always looking for compounds that could increase the yield from differentiation protocols. Discovering a chemical that will positively influence that yield will be useful because the cells could be transplanted into a failing heart as a therapy.
